Profaders

I'm upgrading from 3.5.4 to 3.6.1.
I am running Linux and a separate server for Mysql - both servers are using a host provider. I have had no past issues which merit concern, and have been generally happy with the performance.
I notice in the new upgrade config file there is a section called Datastore Cache Configuration. Assuming my host provider runs Memcache (looking into this) I assume I need to configure memcasheserver to point to the host server's mysql location, and use port 11211.
If my host provider does NOT run Memcache, what data do I enter in the memcacheserver/port in this config section. Do I just leave it blank or what?
Thanks...
