This is not exactly a pre-sale question since I have already bought vBulletin but the question fits here best.:)
I am in the process of converting my phpBB board to vBulletin. I've been having some problems with slow load times of my phpBB forum. My server admin said the cause is in the large wordmatch table which stores all the words in the database for searching. He said the table has 9 million entries. My phpBB forum has 315k posts and I don't consider it a large forum compared to others so I am surprised the posting and editing is so slow.
My question is, does vBulletin have a better way of storing all the words or can I expect the same delays when posting or editing messages?
Usually it takes 5 seconds before I get the confirmation screen after I edit something. How do similarly sized or larger vBulletin forums perform?
