Hello
I run a car club in the UK, I got a friend of mine to upload Phpbb onto my server (1and1) and since I have had a guy from the USA doing updates and forum mods!
Last night the site got hacked (well they took my home page off) Using Macromedia Contribute I just rolled back to an earlier version of the home page so it was easy. But I know if a bad hacker got in he could wipe my site. Is Vbulletin better than Phpbb as for secruity and what backup can I get from the VBulletin team?
I am pretty good with Contribue I built a few sites now using that, but I don't have a clue when it comes to code programming!
IfI purchase VBulletin.....
Can someone upload the new vbulletin forum onto my server?
Can you also transfer all my phpbb date across to the new forum?
Would these be part of the purchase price or not?
Can you also upload some mods and help me to customise the forum and just tweek some files on my server?
Like I say I am not very good at allot of this, so treat me like a complete idiot. But if anyone can help please let me know as I am eager to upgrade to VBulletin.
The guy who helped me with my phpbb site give me MSN support while we set the site up, I am looking to do the same again if anyone can help. I know they will be a cost involved, just need to know how much ££ and if anyone will help.

The support vbulletin can install the forum to you to payment and is the cost is to part of the software of the forum. The hack they do not install them but you must make it alone. For the forum vbulletin it can give all the possible support to you (also with telephone, but always paying). In order to transfer the phpbb you can unload from the area members of vbulletin Impex, a software in order to import all the products not vbulletin. I hope of to have been of aid. Excuse my English bad one .Hi

I think the last response was a bit confusing. You can get VB to install for you, but it is the basic forum pretty much as you see it here. Any style mods you want to do are on your own and are not very difficult if you know some html. Neither is the install difficult to do yourself. The install by VB personel is NOT included in the software purchase or lease. I did not have much experience when I started and had failed at trying to use freeware
www.board (http://www.board). VB has been pretty easy and there is plenty of free support from other users and VB staff guys.

Yepp, if you can provide ftp login, mysql details Jelsoft will install it for you (for a fee) - impex - which is the script to convert phpbb to vbulletin - is almost a one click solution and very simple .. vbulletin has a very easy to understand style administration - you can simply enter new color codes for example to change the look of your forum ....
With some modification you could even have your vbulletin forum look like a phpbb :)

Not sure if I understand, but no amount of improvements in vBulletin security are going to help you with security flaws in other parts of your site.
