Hi
Been testing out a demo forum yesterday, but can't seem to get it to do what i want.
What i need to do is have registered users, who after subscribing can get access to a certain forum, but i do not want them to be able to post in that forum, just read.
Is that possible? If it's possible on the demo forum could you please explain how.
Cheers Richard

That's possible by using the forum permissions.

In order to make what you have written you must go in Panel Control-->Forums & Moderators-->Forum Permissions and to give to the relative permissions you to the group and for the several forum, also to a determined number of post. Hi

Hi
Thanks for the replies, but i still keep going round in circles
What i (think i) have done is left the permissions as they are in the registered user permissions, then created a new subscribing usergroup, gone to that usergroup permissions under the forum and clicked 'No' to everything under 'Post / Thread Permissions', but it is still letting my test account create new posts and threads. I have set it as an additional group under the primary registered group - Is that right? as i still want the user to be able to post in other forums.
Totally confused
Thanks Richard

Hello
E' for this reason that the permissions you must modify them in the several forum. You must assign for every UserGroup the permissions.

Is there anywhere else i can go to get this sorted, as it's the only thing that is stopping me buying?
I just need it explained in beginners terms as i have tried every which way (apart from the way that works obviously ;) ) to get it to work, but can't

With the vBulletin permission system, every 'Yes' overwrites any 'No'. This means that as long as a user is member of a usergroup that has permission to a forum, he/she will be able to do this.
To solve your original problem:
- Make sure the Registered Members usergroup have no permissions to the forum, then setup the permissions for the new (subscription) usergroup to allow Viewing threads, but no permission to post new posts.
