Hello All,

I am attempting to import an existing YaBBse forum into our 3.5.4 Vbulletin. I have done this sort of thing before using Impex to import a PHPBB.

I have looked through a lot of this forum but cant understand what I have done wrong so far:rolleyes:

I did an export of the YaBB forum (sql), as it sits on another server. I created a database on the same server as our VB forum.

I uploaded theYaBBSE folder to our existing Impex directory (as before I only bothered to upload the PHBB ones)

I clicked on the "Remove importids" in the Import section to start another import.

I ammended the config file of Impex to include the new holding temp database details.

I ran the first of the module "Check and update database" - it imported 20 (whatever the 20 means)

I skipped the Associates users, as if I read it right, I just want to import users to a new group and move them from there in admin.

so I imported usergroup - 9 imported
imported users - 238 imported
import forum - 2 imported
Import thread - 1124 imported
import Post - 4980 imported
import Poll - 20 imported
The other imports showed up 0

I went through and updated and rebuilt the thread counters etc but nothing is showing up on the forum??

Whay could this be, what have I done wrong??:confused:

Ahhh - the posts are there....

If I go to forum statistics and look at the most replied to post - I can then click on the most replied to post (one of the imported ones) and see that it and its category (general Category) it is called is there, but when I click up a level, back into the main forum categories, it is not there.

Where do I find it in admin so that I may attempt to move it and the 1200 threads into the category I have made for it??

Edit the category in the Forum Manager in your AdminCP and set it to be Active.

Thank you Colin, it was set to active but I still could not see it. It does not matter now anyway as I moved all the posts to the child forum I made for them.

My next question though is about users. I have imported the 260 odd users of the old forum, and I have moved them in to the "registered members" User group.

But they dont seem to be able to log in. I know the password for one of the imported users, but this is not working for that persons username.

Does everyone have to set a new password? Did the passwords not import?

Or have I messed up somewhere??

I don't know if YaBB passwords are imported. Moved to Import forum so Jerry will see this.

They should be able to, as far as I'm aware they are store as a MD5 string, so ImpEx can import them.

If that has changed in YaBB-SE then I don't know about it, and if that is the case then they won't be able to be imported.

Though you can always use the lost password link, just to ensure that they can do that at least.

This is another reason that ImpEx always imports users into a separate usergroup as you can email just the imported users before you move or manage them.
