Couple setup questions

Hey guys,

Just got my dev site up and working and here are the questions i have

1) I used impex to import from phpbb however when I try to associate my account on phpbb to my account on vb it says failed i typed for id : 1 and it doesnt work what is the correct way to associate.

2) All my users that were imported are banned and do not show up in the memberlist

3) After I have the dev site up and running is there an easy way to do a full backup and restore onto the "main site", this way I can set my styling import my mods that I need and not have to mess with the main site until I am ready.

1. You should not try to associate your main admin account.

2. Please follow the 'After the Import' instructions here:

Also there are two options you need to check to set whether or not members are viewable on memberlist:

a. By usergroup:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit -> Usergroup Options -> Viewable on the Memberlist -> Yes

b. By post count:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Listing & Profile Viewing -> Minimum Posts

3. The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here:

I would like to start from scratch and delete all data and re import I must have messed up a long the way. What is the best way to clean out everything and reimport.

Reinstall vB and start over.

If you have not finalized the import then choose the option to clean out the imported data. It should be right at the top of the Impex screen.

What is the full path to your avatars directory ? (make sure the web server has access to read them).

That is the path to the phpbb avatars directory, also inside this directory is a gallery directory which I have pre installed avatars and in /avatars/ is all my user avatars,

When filling this out would you go
/public_html/images/avatars/ ?

Full path to uploads/attachments folder.
I have a upload picture mod installed in my phpbb forum, Would I put that directory in this option ?

No, you do not use the phpBB directories. vB cannot import data that is from mods, only the data from a standard phpBB database.
