All of a sudden today, my server maxed out on http daemons. Tracked back to the database server, I checked on database processes, and found that there were tons of vbulletin mysql processes that were in very long sleep states.
Eventually, after sleeping 300 seconds, they time out and free up. But with that many sleeping processes, the system grinds to a halt.
Why would I suddenly be seeing lots of sleeping MySQL processes?
Any suggestions? Is tuning needed? (BTW, this forum has been running for over a year without issues.)
