What do you guys think vbulletin.com's home page is like (rating it from 1-5 star) compared to other forum product sites such as invision, phpbb, xmb and the list goes on.
1 star being the worst
5 star being the best
Please remember this is about the home page and other pages NOT the forum/product itself :).
Think of it from a view when you type in www.vbulletin.com (http://www.vbulletin.com) for the first time, what first comes to your mind? :)

i think we can rate 5/5 or 10/10 as long as we can't find any bug/error in a site. :)

vBulletin's template is far more out-date. Designer should work hard to design good templates. I love IPB templates, it is fantastic. But for vB, I love it's features, hope that vBulletin can redesign all teh templates and change to a better one.
For IPB 2.2, beware vB, it is fantastic. I have seen a testing board of my friend, but down now cause he can't pay for a dead forum.

I think it has much to improve.
One thing I think you should add to the homepage is an animated image showing logos of some big companies who are using your product. There are some potential customers who think like this: if all those big name companies and oganizations are using vBulletin, I should too.

I think they should update the images they use, some are from 3.0.x which is very old now ;)

I take it number 1 means, It's not professional looking unlike the product? I answered number 1, it needs a big revamp. Don't need to be ott, but could be more eye catching.
EDIT: But then, it takes the focus of the product, which is amazing.

But then they make think it's expensive and complicated, and not for a small or medium community. Possibly.

Me 2 actually - I always wanted to have a forum as is - but unfortunately I would have like 2-5 member if I leave it as is .. would make upgrades SOOO easy ...

4/5. It's clean, easy to read and we find all things we want to. Just a thing: update screenshots, they are from vB 3.0.3 :p

Yeah, I have mentioned that before (I think), the pictures are way outdated and I think the feature list is as well as it doesnt mention the infraction system in it (3.6 major feature).

I think the style is good for the masses, it's clean and uses good colours. But after a long time viewing the default vbulletin style myself, I personally find it it bit bright on my eyes and it hurts them after long viewing. So I gave it a 4 simply because I would like to see the overall brightness toned down a little.

I gave it a 4. I believe it can be improved on content-wise in some areas, but overall, it's good enough to get the point across.

I think it looks fine.
It is hard for me to be impartial on it since I look at the style so much I can longer appreciate what it looks like to an outsider, which is what's important.

Yeah I agree, when you first see a site, thats the important moment, it makes you decide wheather you keep the site loaded or simply hit the back button and go to another site.

As much as I love vBulletin, I think the homepage could be improved.
There is a lot of wasted space and it's not very tidy.
Although it's very user friendly, it's not very eye grabbing and it doesn't give me the WOW impression.
Compare it to that of the main competitor. Theirs looks a lot tidier and much more professional. I guess that's due to the fact that it has more graphics and a nice blend of colours. vBulletin's site doesn't have that, and looks rather bland in comparison.
Of course, that's only my opinion.
Just my 2 pennies. :)

I agree, more graphics other than small outdated screenshots ;).
