OK folks...my site is completely trashed. It started with an apparent database crash. My backup was corrupt. My host did new backups last night and only have the crashed one now...nothing prior.
I need to completely reinstall VBulletin and start over because I've really got things screwed up now. It won't let me reinstall though. What all do I have to remove to run a new install?
Thanks,
Don

You install this the same way you did the first time. You can view the installation instructions in our online documentation here:

I had a similar problem with the install script in 3.6 not wanting to connect to the db because of something in the config.php file. I had to completely delete the database and user and start over with a different db name and user and password.

Is there no way to rebuild a database..even empty..without totally reinstalling the forum and losing all your changes?

What do you mean by 'rebuild'?

Well...it doesn't matter now as I'm finished getting my site back to the way it was. My question though is that when I lost my database..I ended up doing a complete re-install of VBulletin and let it create the new database, tables, etc. I ended up with a brand new installation with no topic areas and etc. setup. I built it new from the ground up. My question is, could I have rebuilt the database and got it going again with my existing forums, templates, etc. in place?

That depends on what was wrong with your database to begin with. It's very likely that whatever it was could have been fixed.

Thanxx for asking this question. I installed vB a few weeks ago (my first time at all this) and have been adding on a few hacks and making changes successfully. However when I tried to add-in vBadvanced CMPS, although the install process seemed to work alright (i.e. no errors), when it was done it was semi-corrupted. Most of the menus in admincp for vBa were missing, probably 2/3's of them for some reason.:(
Anyway, I just installed a 2nd demo copy that I'm going to try it again on. If that works, at least now I know how to clean-off my original install and begin all over again.
