I've configured impex config with the correct names, PW, Users etc and every time I try and run import, I get this error message.
"Connection to source server failed. Check username and password"
The Username and PW I have in the config file is the same exact data that is used in config.php from the active board. I have the value set to true for a db exists also.
I've only gotten to the Modules select screen the first time. Every other time, I put in my owners number and then it redirects and dies with the error message above.
I have 550 users in this DB and don't want to have to start them all over again. I really need to get this imported into VBulletin.
Any help is greatly appreciated,

Are the two forums on totally separate servers?

Yes. The new on is on a totally different server than the old one. Both are accessable using the config.php info from within VBull on the new one and phpbb2 on the old one. And thats the same info that I put into Impex config. (and yes, I did rename it by removing the ".new"

Grant remote access to the phpBB one or copy the database and restore it on the vBulletin server.

If I restore it it into VBulletin itwill be a phpbb database and I would think that would cause issues. I've read all I could except the link that is above your message. Can ImPex import from a backup file?
Thanks for your time,

No, Impex cannot import from a backup. It needs access to the database.

I throw myself on the community as the "Village Idiot!". The impex config file that I was editing was actually a copy in the wrong folder! DOH!!!
Once I stopped.. took a deep breath and re-read the installation directions, specifically where the files are supposed to go (I did have them there by the way.. I was just editing an extra copy that wasn't in the Admin folder) it worked.
I edited the correct config file and it all worked as advertised. Once again, the breakdown was at the keyboard! I apologize for wasting anyone's time trying to help me.
