HI all,
On net i visited some website where i got there forum of VB install but their is no tag like this
Powered by vBulletin Version x.x.x

I want to ask VB Team, what is this means,
1) They are using illegal forums?
2) They purchased VB with BIG Amount so they removed Jelsoft Code?
Or any thing else..................please don't ask me for mention about these forums...........as i got a lot of from Google.
Thanks

 What are you talking about? "He hasn't" what? There's no URL mentioned, so how do you know? You can easily do a version check by going to their admincp directory.

He simply says the copyright notice is not there, so they could well have paid for the removal.

I thought you wasn't allowed to change / edit the version number? isn't that bit of the copyright?

A version number has nothing to do with the copyright. Even if you didn't purchase the brand-free option, you can remove the version number if you like.

According to one of the staff in another thread, the minimum acceptable copyright you can do is:
"vBulletin, Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd."

Correct, the smallest possible copyright notice is
vBulletin, Copyright ©2000 - [year of most recent vBulletin release], Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
... obviously inserting the correct copyright year in the place marked.

If you purchase the branding-free version, then that can be removed right?

Branding does NOT permit to rebrand the software. You pay for permission to remove the copyright, you're not paying to own the copyright.

Dear sir,
I had purchased the brand free option and few questions about it:
1. Is there any easy way to activate 'brand free'? or it's trivial jobs to remove line by line? Modify installation script seems to be brand free but not all. :o
2. Can I use something like 'Enhanced by XXX' to replace the copyright declaration?
I'm appreciated if you can help me ASAP.
Thanks.

1. You'll have to remove the branding yourself, there's no switch and it's not automatic.
2. As long as that doesn't give the impression that it's a different software that shouldn't be a problem.

He linked to vBulletin.com & vBulletin.org.
But vBulletin.org doesn't own the copyright. :D

When someone with a branding free license download vB from the Members Area, the copyright info is automatically removed from their zip file. This was just added recently.
Just recently.

vBulletin, Copyright ©2006
I couldn't?
