I originally setup a dreamhost.com account for a basic site that my company needed. (Note: This is a vbPortal/VBulletin based site). They seem to be good, but I was curious if anybody here had any experience with them.

Yes, they are good for small sites, and sites that dont use much CPU usuage. If you site grows large, and there is roughly 15 users only constantly expect to start receiving major down times, as all their severs are over sold.
Also expect alot of downtime, it seems they are having tons of problems according to their customers on other forums right now. Dreamhost however is great for simple http transfers

In other words, you get what you pay for.

not always.. My host is very affordable and one of the best that I've used. I've been with them for almost a year now, and have been down maybe.... 3 times... for only a few mins each, and was always told ahead of time.

I also have seen some not too good reviews of BlueHost. But the argument that site going down when you have 10-15 users online, doesnt make sense. Shared sites are hosted on pretty good servers normally, 10-15 users extra doesnt make much of a differnce. Downtime occurs when hundreds or even thousands of users access the same server - that means its dependednt on what most of the sites on your server are doing. There is very little you can do about that!
