I have registered both of these domain names: http://www.newstalkback.com/ and http://www.newstalkback.net/

The main domain is the .com one with the .net to be parked on the same server. In regards to licensing, will that mean ill need TWO licenses or just ONE will do?

Just the one, as it's only the one install.

You're fine.

Its just brother/sister extentions. Its considered as one site, since both domains have the same name. You could just point your server to both domains.

You're fine. Don't worry about it.

If the second domain redirects or is an additional access point to the first domain you should be ok.

Well they both point to exactly the same server.

But the problem is that if a user initially goes to http://www.newstalkback.com/ and logs in (and selects "remember me"), if they go to http://www.newstalkback.net/ it won't remember them.

well. What did you expect, they're different domain [extentions].

You can Blame the WC3 and every browser who complies with them, having cookies work cross domain is a no no.

I would suggest setting up the .net as a redirect to the .com to avoid these issues.

Because of the cookies - you can only have one cookie domain .. you can change it through the admin area but why not making a simple redirect instead of domain masking ?

One advantage of the different extentions not using different cookies is if you have 2 people using your machine and each can use a different domain to remember their log in. For example one board I have has a .com and .net and I use the .com while my cousin uses the .net.

well. What did you expect, they're different domain [extentions].

For what I read ... mostly understood ...

For example or let's say www.aabbcc.com (http://www.aabbcc.com) and www.112233.us (http://www.112233.us) are parked on www.testing.com (http://www.testing.com) which is the main server for vbulletin installed

and www.testing.com's (http://www.testing.com's) vbulletin have parents that said ... "AABBCC", another said ... "112233", and this "testing" ... 3 childrens on "AABBCC", 5 children on "112233" and 4 childrens plus 10 grandchildren on "testing"

is that legal ?
