This thread is for discussing the release of vBulletin 2.3.10.
Please use this thread to talk about things you like or installation experiences etc., but please do not use this thread to post troubleshooting queries or bug reports. These threads tend to grow very large and bug reports etc. tend to become lost and will not get attention from the support or development teams.

Thank you for this security release ;)
Maybe 1 question: How long time vB2.x branch will have more security releases?

Time to consider upgrading my 2.3.5 dev board then ;)
*peterska2 adds it to the list of upgrades to be carried out.

Please do note that vBulletin 2.3.x and 3.0.x are reaching the end of their lives and is are longer actively developed, except for bug fixes. If you have not yet upgraded to a more recent version of vBulletin, you should consider doing so.
I think there's an extra word there ("is") and a word missing ("no").
Edit: Oh look, it fixed itself :D

Maybe 1 question: How long time vB2.x branch will have more security releases?I'm surprised it's still going, running four versions must be a bind, I would have thought 2.x is going to be dropped soon.

I am not sure how much of a bind, as it isn't being developed anymore.

Our announcements are our news bulletins, and each admincp has a mention of newer releases - linking to the announcements. And within reasonable time after each major release we also publish an eBulletin- the one for 2.x, 3.x is being written right now

I recieved no notification of this security update and the admin control panel makes no mention of the new release only that 3.X is the latest version.
You guys really need to get on top of this.

Each control panel displays the latest stable release, in this case 3.6.0
The announcements on this forum are not edited, but bumped by adding a latest post to the announcement with the information.
Thank you for your feedback.

earlier you said

which is it?
If you think bumping a post in an announcements forum is full disclosure then you should think again.
I can't believe anyone would seriously suggest that this the best way to inform people about vulnrabities in software. It isn't acceptable.

I meant: a release
We always recommend to upgrade to the latest stable, which has no known security issues. If it shows in your admincp you should follow up on it.
And no, it is one of the ways we inform our customers. As also mentioned - we email our customers with an eBulletin and one is written right now.
I also recommend you subscribe to the announcement forum so you can receive a digest of updates.

For people running large boards upgrading to the latest branch is often not an option. I run Vb2, I expect to be treated the same way as any other customer, that includes timely notifications of security advisories.

I'd suggest you email all customers as soon as you have a patch.

Hi just a question, I am still very much depending on the 2.* Vbulletin version, since it's quite unfeasable for me to switch to the latest 3.* version. Since that implicates too many additions to my forum won't be working anymore. The upgrade would really mean months of extra work for me. :(
How long will Vbulletin support this 2.* release, and will actively update it to any possible security problems? If the 2.* release is not getting a high priority anymore, I really like to know (security wise).
Regards,
/Aaron A. Sikkink

Aaron,
vBulletin 2 will most likely be supported until vBulletin 4 is released.
