When you purchase the commercial, does it come with the full source code, or are parts of it encoded for the sake of copyright protection of core functions/features and whatnot?
...just curious in case I potentially take the vB leap.

In most cases, you don't have to edit the PHP files to modify how vBulletin works. There's a Plugin system and a developer API that let you extend it without making upgrades difficult.

Thx Feldon, there's no doubt for me that I'll be modding pieces of the vB core here and there. I am tackling a long sought after bridge for vBulletin <--> Joomla's Community Builder (CB), and the attempts at a vB plugin for CB have been prolonged and/or failed.
Really thinkin this is gonna have to be a custom hack job for my specific needs unfortunately, so I will need the source files despite it's sound plugin architecture. There's too many specific robust features I'm trying to bridge and many of the miniscule aspects will have to be hacked (I'm certain), like how the profile links are built and avatars being chosen from a different DB table, etc... things that minute in nature.
