Can you tell me if vbulletin has the following features:

#1 Does vb have the ability to set advanced permissions.

I would like to be able to allow a certain group of users to see a specific forum, as well as the threads inside, but not be able to actually open the individual threads. So they'd see the thread title, but won't be able to open it.



2# The second thing is, could I attach a thumbnail to threads, and have them show up when browsing a forum? So to the left of each thread name, there would be a small thumbnail.

1. Yes, you can do this easily with Forum and Usergroup permissions.

2. The same thumbnail for all threads or a different thumbnail for each one? Do you have a link to a site where this is done?

Hi Steve,

I would like to be able to have a different thumbnail for each thread. I don't have a link to an actual site, although I'm sure I've seen it done before.

I've never heard of this before. It not a standard feature on any software I've seen, nor is it a standard feature in vB.

This requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking about this over at www.vbulletin.org (http://www.vbulletin.org).

Photopost products and GARS have that feature. :) As Steve suggested, go over to vB.org (the vB modding community) and see if this thread (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98651&highlight=thread+thumbnail) is what you're looking for. Though, you will need to be a licensed vB registered member there in order to view the attachment.

on vbulletin.org, you have a hack that display the latest/first thumbnail contained in a thread as you wish to see it... in the forumdisplay page... the display is up to you to modify after installation of the plugin... (20 seconds!)
