Providing a list of files to upload? This would save me time as then I don't have to upload a ton of files that have not changed. I am upgrading from 2.0.
Also, did I miss the directions for the upgrade within the zip file? Or, is the only place to get this info is in this forum?
Thanks!
PS: How do you tell if a backup is "complete" and good?

If only 50% of the files changed (or even less) and even none of the .gif's then which ones should I upload? Or, do I just upload all files with .php extension? Thanks once more.

You do not need to upload any of the image files.

First bug found: When you click Edit Profile in the User CP and edit your information, then click Submit, it goes to the MySQL screen. It looks like it's something major but it's not. It actually submits the information, but it displays the MySQL screen rather than the PHP file. Please put out a fix.

Don't confuse 2.0.1 with 2.1 - they are two different things. :)
2.0.1 is a maintenance/bug-fix release, whereas 2.1 will contain new features and be a more significant release.

From 2.0 betas and release candidates:
Information is available here to upgrade to 2.0.0:
http://161.58.84.213/forum/showthre...&threadid=17464
Then follow the instructions below for upgrading to 2.0.1 Do I need the released version of 2.0.0 to upgrade before I apply the 2.0.1 upgrade or can I go straight from 2.0.0 beta 5 to 2.0.1 without uploading the files from the original 2.0.0 public release just by running upgrade5.php and up in sequence?
I ask this because I don't have the .zip for 2.0.0, all I have is 2.0.0 beta 5 and now 2.0.1 ... if I need to upgrade to 2.0.0 with the original version, I'll need a copy of the .zip ... preferably in the members area under the "previous versions" section.
Thanks,
tubedogg

Reason why this might be happening? check your footer template and make sure that you don't need to revert it back to the default.

You can always try a tool like Compare IT (http://www.grigsoft.com/wincmp.htm)

Try BeyondCompare - you can configure it to display only those files which have changed and you can view the two versions side by side and see exactly what changed and where. I love it. :D

hi all,
should i upgrade ? :(
running now 2.0.0
@VB developers,
well i think you should make the german version too, like UBB (but i will never change the VB for any other forum SW)... ;)
because, is amazing work everytime to search for the english words in the php files and translate it into german...
and then search for the changed templates....
idea ?
p.s.: you will say, i should use compare software, but that's not the point..

my suggestion would be automated scripting for the changes you HAVE to make every time.. that would take care of things that you change time after time after time... you get the point... pic up a book an sed, awk, &/or perl... it will help you quite a bit...

WHY? I thought in the instructions it would NOT touch any templates if you changed them. What gives here??? Why should you have to revert back and LOSE your edits???

Tue 5th Jun '01, 8:29pm
I also think changed files should be mentioned.
We paid for the registration and you make the bulletin board, you people know which files changes are made to, so why do we have to sort that out, if you already know because you make them?:)
If people have several nice hacks there is for us no way to tell which hacks we have to do again because so much files could be changed that one would think every file in the new release or maintainence release has changed.
But never mind that, it would be a nice service to just state in an info file or with the announcement which files are changed.
By the way, upgrading itself went smoothly here too.:)

The upgrade does not touch any of your custom templates, which is why you would have to revert a template if it's changed. The reason Rebby suggested reverting your footer template is that if you have hardcoded the 2.0.0 number into it, it wouldn't change. If you don't have $templateversion in your footer template, it won't show the new version number.

Like others have asked: what files are changed?
I translate the board, mainly templates, but also in a few of the files, and knowing _what_ files that are changed could save me for several hours of searching and fixing...
Please?
Paying for this nice software should give us the right to ask for it, shouldn't it?

Hello vB Team,
I can confirm some of the comments mentioned above about new releases and getting the changes into translated versions.
It would be a great help if you could list the changed/bug fixed php files also. Much like you do for the changed templates. Then us translators can go straight for the changes and not have to "compare" everything till we find differences.
Hope you can accomodate and thanx if you do.
Best regards,
Scott
P.S. And as always, keep up the good work.

Went to upgrade from 2.0.0 to .01. For some strange reason when I run the upgrade10.php it will allow me to get to the login as usual, but says this when I try to loggin.
"You are either not a valid administrator or have not logged in."
It refreshes and leaves me sitting at the loggin. Acts like it doesn't know who I am. ;)
I went ahead and reupped the files twice. Once in binary, then in text for the .php. (not that it should make any difference)
Any Ideas. First time I've had any probs with the upgrade since beta 5.

vB is not freeware nor shareware. That means, if somebody has vB, then it was either bought, leased or pirated. The latter is of course what you've mentioned. There is no direct way to nail down a stolen copy of vB. The only thing you may try to do is notify the guys at Jelsoft about the possible piracy. Send an email (john@vbulletin.com) with the URL of the suspect site. They will do the rest.

I think I found a bug in the announcements area...
when I go to edit a global announcement...it doesnt show the original vB code at all and it kept inserting <br />
and also the smileys were replaced with an <img> tag instead of the original smily face text...
is this normal?
s.molinari
Thu 28th Jun '01, 7:46pm
Yes, announcements are treated a bit differently as to normal posts. They are "coded" or HTMLed if you like, after you submit it. So the data in the db is HTML. Posts are HMTLed after being read from the data base. So post data in the db is basically what you typed. That's how I understand it. Hope I explained ok too. :)

I'm currently using 2.0.0 and I'm wondering if it's worth the time to upgrade to 2.0.1. I've done some hacking on my current version including some changes to the index.php. I've also changed the level2 postbits, and other templates.
Will the update overwrite these files. Which files does the update actually change?
Thanks in advance.

The update will not overwrite anything and it is recommended to upgrade. I am personally still running 2.0.0, but that's because the upgrade is rather minor and fixes some more rare security holes that I doubt will effect me. Plus, I am extremely busy and don't want to upgrade unless I really need to.
