Infractions - Have I got this right

Ok I need to make sure I understand this correctly (yes I have searched).

Anyway.

Infractions dish out points to users based on the 'crime' and the points you designate e.g Profanity infraction gives out 1 points which expires in 10 days.

Now I have set an infraction group for a member who gets 10 points to be banned for 7 days. As in the registered members usergroup they are in is overridden with the banned members group ?

Now lets say I want to send someone into the banned members group for 2 weeks. I have set up an Infraction warning which dishes out 20 points that expire in 14 days and set up another infraction group which bans someone with 20 points.

Is that correct? Or I have I got it wrong.

Sounds about right.

Personally, I would make a new 'banned' group, so as to not make futzing with the 'default' vB banned group break infractions, and vica verse.

I guess the most times you'd hit the 2-week ban, is when you assign custom infractions, as most times the automatic infractions will hit the 1-week ban. As such it may be useless to use longer bans with the current system.

As was discussed in another thread, we're hoping the Devs will extend the system to include some infractions based on total points earned in a users' lifetime, regardless of the time served so that we may get those repeat offenders.
