whats the best way to do this?

i have a forum on one domain, running 3.5.4. i just bought a new domain name that more aptly describes the forum content. when 3.6 comes out i'd like to download it and install it on the new forum, then somehow migrate all my users and posts over to the new 3.6 forum on the new domain.

what's the easiest way to go about this? (if there is one).

When 3.6 comes out this is how I would do it.

Close the 3.5 site, backup the .sql
Move the sql dump to the new account and import it to a new database.
Upload the 3.6 files and point config.php to the new database
Run upgrade.php
