Doesn't Dreamhost still have an active 1.x board?

I didn't mean them in my 1st reply. Anyway it seems they've switched (http://discussion.dreamhost.com/wwwthreads.pl) over to
WWWThreads.
Poor choice!

It's not a poor choice if the solution works for them.

I bet their customers would prefer vBulletin over WWWThreads. Anyway I meant switching from vBulletin to another forum software is a poor choice.

Maybe their customers do prefer WWWThreads. And again, it's not a poor choice moving from vBulletin to another bulletin board software if the new software is what you're looking for and gets the job done for you. I'm sure that vB isn't for everyone.
But anyways, I don't want to start an argument, so I'll leave it at that.

I migrated a WWWThreads board to Vbulletin 3 about a year ago - talk about a pain in the neck! We had to pretty much customize our own import script and bring it into vbulletin2.0 before we could even think about getting it up to vb3. I still have nightmares.

We do not recommend for both security and performance reasons to run vBulletin 1.x.

Aww, and here I was trying to decide on whether to downgrade to 1.x or upgrade to 3.6 :p

isn't it funny how the registration form from 1.x look very similar to V3.x and through out the 1.x series you will find that some thing do look the same.
