He everyone,
It's been 5 years and I still can't believe how the time has gone by so fast. :)
To celebrate our anniversary, we will be giving the winner of this month's contest $50 in shopping money to go to the vB Fan Shop (http://www.cafepress.com/vbulletinshop)and pick out a couple of nice goodies for winning the contest in July. So cross your fingers, take a look at all the nominees before you vote and as always, have fun.:)

Wow, thanks very very much for the nomination, and to those who consider voting for the epiguide (http://www.epiguide.com). I've worked hard to customize it using my own tweaks as well as plenty of the wonderful mods from vb.org's ingenious coders. Still, looking at all the nominees, I'm pretty darn humbled.
Best of luck to everyone, and thanks again!

Although there're very nice nominations this month (especially DeuceAce.com), my vote has defenitely gone to your forum. A unique design that I've never seen something alike before.
You're a true talented designer; you should run your own design firm. :)

simsim, I agree with you on the design aspect but what swayed me was how "cramped" things looked when I scrolled to the middle of some pages (like the forum index). I do admire its overall appearance, but it's some little things that can get me.

WOW thank you very very much for the extremely flattering and generous words. I actually do have a design firm, but it's not vbulletin-centered. Anyway, simsim, thanks again ... I'm floored by your compliment and will be grinning all day!

I know how you feel, chewbacca, and appreciate the feedback. A nice design can definitely be killed by the details! Thanks so much for visiting the site.
Edited to Add: By the way, if I weren't contractually obligated to vote for my own site :D, I'd've gone for MMORPG-zone. Gorgeous, sleek design and an atypical color scheme. Well done! I'm adding your link to our directory.

kiwilerner, I should've added that my opinion may or may not affect how regular visitors to your site react. The resolution at which I was viewing the site might be higher than some people's, so the text came out pretty small, and serif/semi-serif fonts such as Trebuchet MS turn out a bit harder to read than most sans-serif fonts. I think that was the main factor.
My target audience might be very different from yours, and I have to admit I am a hypocrite when designing for it (I'm doing a redesign right now, actually). Although I don't like things like small text and lots of icon buttons (without text to tell the user what it does unless he hovers over it), many others do.
In fact, EpiGuide is "in the middle" when it comes to this aspect of design, and I really do like it. The sidebar, as well as the other "big" elements, are well spaced. I don't know if you took my comment the wrong way; the one small thing I first mentioned didn't kill the design at all.
Best of luck to you and the rest of the nominees. :)

Vbulletin-faq seems to be getting lots of votes, must admit I was oblivious to it! Will have to check it out, seems like its a fantastic resource for vbulletin. As for epiguide, I absolutley love the customisation. Its great to see so many boards making changes and creating a unique feel!

I think it may be from positive community action. While it's technically not rallying votes, I've seen vB-FAQ mentioned at other places. It's good to see people caring to vote. :)

Thanks for all the thoughtful words and support, guys! We did add lots of customizing to the forum, such as in the "myspace"-like member profiles and altered forumbits, but none would have been possible without the amazing hack writers of vbulletin.org. Anyone can do some pretty astounding stuff if you study the great work over there.
Chewbacca, extra thanks to you -- please don't worry, I didn't take your comments badly at all. I really do appreciate the feedback.
Not surprised vbulletin-faq's doing so well. It's a very useful resource for vbulletin owners, and the community's showing the loyalty it's earned. But I'm glad to see the love for MMORPG-Zone too, since I think it's just gorgeous. BTW, The Chief's site really rocks.

Vbulletin-faq seems to be getting lots of votesIt got my vote because of the sites listed it's one that I actually use. It was a tough call between them and EpiGuide because of the amount of work Epi' did with their style but sometimes I prefer a simpler look & feel.

Probably because vb-FAQ is an up & coming major vB resource site. I'm sure it's mentioned on other sites whether there's a contest running or not. ;) I don't call that rallying votes

Not plain, but definitely simple ;) On a resource site, simple is good. Makes it easier to find what you're looking for.

Thank you Chewbacca. We certainly had no intention of rallying votes. Just drawing attention to the contest. All the sites listed are worthy of votes IMO, not just VBFAQ.
Yes, our style is simple. We wanted to keep the attention on the content. Our site is dedicated as a resource to the vBulletin admin regarding topics such as
Promoting your forum
Profiting from your forum
Getting ranked better on search engines
Developing your forum for the most participation
Plus, we have things such as internet news, vBulletin skins, Styles and Graphics available for free download, and many articles about ways to grow and manage your community.
Thanks to everyone who has (or will) vote for us, and thanks to everyone that participates in this contest regardless of who you vote for. We all work hard on building our communities, and the recognition of each vote means alot to all of us.

I voted for vb-FAQ :D
Ditto. I know someone mentioned simple design, but the content more than makes up for that. I actually prefer a simple design on a site where I'm looking for information, the more elaborate designs look good but can often be distracting or a bit slower, they are cool but not when I'm in a rush lol. That said, Epiguide looks good, unique design and it was a pretty close call, but vb-FAQ got my vote. :)
Well done to all who got nominated :)

Thanks Good2Laugh -
That was actually our intention with a simple design and simple colors. We didnt want to distract from the content. We really wanted the content to be the focus and for vBFAQ to be someplace you could concentrate on the focus of the site; The administration of a vBulletin forum.
Epiguide is a great site, no question. the style there is fantastic and clearly took alot of thought. It certainly is original..

Congrats to vbulletin-faq! And many thanks to everyone who voted and had kind things to say about EpiGuide. I'm astonished we made even as good a showing as we did, especially up against a great community devoted to vbulletin owners, but also against some truly lovely boards such as deuceace and my personal favorite, mmorpg-zone. It's truly been an honor and inspiration to me and all the members of the Eppy community. Thanks so much for allowing us to take part.

Yep, well done, vB-FAQ. :)
It's always hard to vote in these polls.
Why does everyone seem to think that "plain and simple design" means something negative? I usually prefer those over the overcomplex ones that are easy to get lost in.

Interesting.. My experience is most people never look at the urls at all, so having rewritten urls for the user is of little benefit. I won't get into why I think they are of little benefit and actually a negative for another forum...
I just find it interesting that some people look at them. As I said, I think the typical web surfer does not look at URLs when they are browsing around.

Really, check out the other sites, they are all great sites and deserve recognition. Maybe you'll find one of them interests you and you end up joining.
