I know they stink.

For those of you that used a shared Go Daddy server. How are you backing up and restoring your databases.
Thanks

why are you saying they stink? I've been looking at their plans and they look really good, nice prices and features could not be better.

AS to restore database, if they offer cpanel then you can go to the option Backup and you can download the database backup in there as well as restoring it.

Hope that helps.

Well I need some input from someone who has Go Daddy Please.

NO SSH allowed. Max upload file size in MYSQL is 2MB was 8MB a few weeks ago. I have a 10MB Database. The last restore I did I had to restore the DB in small pieces. Pain in the butt. Took over an hour of cutting an pasting. No Backup on the CP. The server has been reliable, but the lack of SSH access and the lacking CP makes it a pain to manage a VB forum.

they cannot do it for you? Most of the hosts have something called "Support"

Surly if you upload it to your server they will import it for you!

GODADDY SUCKS!!! I just cancelled all my accounts with them. Their database servers are rediculously slow (was getting around 30K download speed) and the tech reps absolutely deny EVERY problem you report. They think it's normal for a web page to take 12 seconds to respond, and another 8 seconds to load. I was hosting vBulletin with them for about 1 month... it just turned to crap. Complete waste of time - I'm warning you now! I changed to HostGator.com, have had them for about 2 months now, and they have been nothing but great! Tech support reps can (and do) actually FIX problems rather than deny them or avoid them. Just don't use Godaddy - for a site with vBulletin, it's just not worth it!

Also - HostGator.com allows a 15MB public file size upload limit, which is higher than most hosts. Not too shabby for a shared hosting plan.
