If we have a brand new forum with no skins or hacks, and we install a few hacks in the basic vB skin, will those hacks showup in new skins that we install later? Or would we have to reinstall the hacks in each skin?

If these skins are child skins of the skin that has the modifications, and if the templates in this child skin are not manually adjusted, yes.

Yes these skins would be child skins, but what do you mean by 'manually adjusted'?

Yes these skins would be child skins, but what do you mean by 'manually adjusted'? :confused:Let's say you have two styles, StyleA and StyleB. StyleA is the parent and StyleB is the child. You then have two templates, Template123 and Template456. You add both of those templates to StyleA. Those templates will work fine in StyleB and will be identical to the templates in StyleA.
However, you modify Template456 in StyleB. That change will break the parent-child inheritance for that template. That means if you then install a hack and need to modify Template456 then those changes will no longer automatically appear in StyleB until you modify StyleB's version of Template456 in addition to StyleA's version. Template123 will still be inherited but not Template456.

Thanks KW802 :) Yes we'd only be making changes to the default vB skin, so I guess we'd be OK :o
