Hello all..
Just a question..
i run now MySQL - 5.0.18 on my server and I want to downgrade to MySQL version 4..But is this a very risky move to downgrade mysql and does my forum still works if i do this? will a backup from version 5 work in version 4

I would suggest sticking with MySQL 5 serries as it would be in your best intrests in the long run.

Hi Zachery..
But i have to many problems with MySQL 5 serries, After the upgrade i cant upload any big files anymore.. The files size on my server is set to 30MB but after the upgrade i cant upload a file from 17 mb.. Now my support says that the problem is MySQL 5 and that i need to downgrade to version 4.. But will my mysql backup from version 5 work in version 4..

Downgrading to mysql 4 won't help, if you are having issues storing large files you should take a look at the mysql settings, if mysql's max_packet_size is only 16mb you won't be able to upload an attachment bigger than that. However if you are storing large attachments in the vBulletin database you should consider moving them to the file system as soon as you can!

Keep pushing it... downgrading from MySQL 5 to 4 is not recommended. Maybe they don;t want to change the configuration. I have some vB sites running in MySQL without any problems. They should make it work if it was working before.
On the other hand I did made a downgrade... a problem with a non vBulletin site... and I can tell you it was really painful.
