Lets say I have 10,000 members, 500 active at a time, all features activated, how much disc space do i need? i know it varies but i need some ballpark figure as i know nothing about this.

I think your bigger issue is going to be having a robust enough server to handle that. I would think at least a dual processor 2.4GHz server. If you had that, I would be shocked if it didn't have at least 60-100GB hard drive. The biggest space usage on a forum is attachments.

If you don't allow attachments, then 75,000 posts takes maybe 75MB. With attachments on my forum, after 5 years, my database is 450MB.

Note that if you don't prune inactive users, then the percentage of that 10,000 user count that actually visits the forum will be about 3-5%. I delete any user who has neither posted nor visited the forum in 6 months. I don't want artificially high user counts. So a forum with 10,000 users that does NOT delete inactive users after 3 years probably has 300-500 actual users using the forum, and only 30-50 of those are on at any one time.
