View Full Version : Which hosting plan

Alright, if ASO gets their hosting back up, I'm wondering which plan I should go with.

For now it'll be a simple site without videos or anything complicated (since I'm a VB n00b). I may add avatars and picture attachments, we'll see.

Anyway, I'm not sure which of the shared hosting plans to start with. My site will have to run for about 2 months without much intervention (since I'll be leaving for a while). I just really have no idea which plan to go with to start. I'm expecting quite a few members, and may have to move up to a more robust solution after a few months, I'll have to see.

Anyway, I may expect to see the maximum for a shared hosting solution (~50 members, if I read some of these threads correctly). I really don't know, but need something that can last for 2 months without my intervention for a fairly healthy growing site. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for the vague question.

Why limit yourself to ASO? There's plenty of quality hosting providers out there. ;)

Go with shared and small, a friend uses this package for www.blackpoolweb.com (http://www.blackpoolweb.com) and I use it for www.gr8b.com (http://www.gr8b.com)

Plenty of posts and attachments on the first site and it runs fine.

Today actually I'm looking around at some others, since ASO has been unable to accept new hosting for weeks (or at least they reset at midnight and run out in half an hour).

Any recommendations for others that have a good forum community (remember: I'm a noob) and excellent customer service. I've been reading through the testimonials, but there are SOOOO many.

Looking at F5 hosting, their basic plan doesn't let you use MySQL databases, so I guess that won't work, eh?

And is the tiny really enough at ASO or would I need small? $60/year is fine, especially if I don't have to change it later and can get 2 months free.
