registration improvement - refferrers

When someone enters a refferrer user id that does not exist, the registration fails and you have to go back to change what you entered.

Some people are very bad at following directions and they enter the name of the website where they heard of my site in refferal field or name of the friend who reffered them to us, even if the friend is not a registered member.

we had several complaints about this thing and we had to change to code so that when refferrer does not match any of the users, it's just taken as NULL.

You may want to consider to also do this in the next release.

This kind of defeats the purpose though - if the user enters an invalid referrer, the system should tell them so they have a chance to correct it. Otherwise they go on their merry way thinking they entered it correctly, when in reality they didn't, and there's no way to change this after registration.

true... on my board there have been several users referred that do not use this field.. the only way that i've found to correct the # of referrals is in the MySQL database... am i missing this in the cp somewhere???

In the control panel look under "Users" It says:
Add | Find
IP Addresses
Referrals
Email users
Generate mailing list
