View Full Version : Import from UltraBoard 2.2

Will there ever be an Import from UltraBoard 2.2 using mySQL to vBulletin 2.0? I would give the vBulletin Developers help in any way I can. I have a test installation of UltraBoard that I could give access to or I have backups of our main board. We have a board with over 6000 users and 90000+ messages I'm itching to switch to vBulletin. I run all of our Servers here so access is not a problem.

Just curious on the status of the conversion scripts. As soon as I hear there is a script that will convert my UB2K database to VB I'll be first in line to buy VB and get it setup. Great work on version 2.0 guys, good work.

I don't think that will happen soon enough unless someone hack it.

We are working on one at the moment - patience! There are quite a few threads around about this, so have a search around.

What about ezboard? When last I was at this board, you said it wouldn't be for awhile, and now the poll says "import complete" next to ezboard... have you done this?

Yes. Info is in the members' area.

So that means I would need to be a member to access this info? Is having a vBulletin Lite good enough or do I need to be a paying customer to access the information?

In order to get access to members area, you need to buy VB.

However, if you check the announcements forum here, there is info about the ezboard conversion tool.

Thanks.

On the announcement thread I saw, (2.0.1 release), it just noted the existence of the ezboard tool.

Is there some way that I could see an example of a vBulletin that was converted from ezboard?

Thanks...

Just a few more questions...

I noticed most of the people on that board have a fairly low post count and a registration date of May or June. When you switch, do the members retain their original post counts and registration dates? And if not, is there a way to manually change that information on a vBulletin?

Mike Sullivan

Well, unless you can get dumps of your ezBoard data, there's no way to import users.

Although, yes - you can edit the user data by changes values in the database directly.

I see... so what exactly is imported? All the messages only?

Yes messages only.

Some of our members were slightly upset when they found their post count had been "reset" so to speak, but post count really indicates how many posts you have on that perticular board. :) If anyone is thinking about the Ezboard converstion, I'd highly recommend it. Worked a treat, and it is certainly an impressive service to offer :)

Whats about the status of the import script for the UB2K boards ?

@ jtallen123

I bought it yesterday and hope the script will be finished very soon, or I get the beta script from the vBulletin Developer
for testing.

I asked Sergey "the Eych" Smirnov a member of the staff and this was his answer:

The only thing i know that Jacky is out of reach currently. I don't
know why he can't fix the server remotely, but he promised to be back
at the end of the previous week.

Obviously, he is still absent.

Don't know anything else.

I don't think there's any ETA. I know Kier was working on it, but I haven't seen anything from it yet. For all I know right now, it could be done :)

@ Ed Sullivan

What do you mean with ETA ?

smacwill
Thu 28th Jun '01, 8:29am
Right now would be good for vBulletin with the UB2K team missing in action.

Better Clarify:

This would be a good time for vBulletin to release the import script. With the UB2K team MIA, they could probably pick up many of the UB2K customers. I know there is a lot of un-rest in the ranks.

I know I'm waiting impatiently for the script :) I have a pretty busy board to convert.

Skip.....

More and more problems in my UB2K database, double postings "ghost postings" and more problems

I need the script really urgent.
I think my UB2K database crashes in the next days :(

A new paying customer looking forward to the ub2k import thingy :)

Since this will only work with the mySQL version of ub2k and the ub2k downloads are no longer accessable to any one.... does any one have the ub2k to mySQL conversion tool? Thanks in advance.

Does someone have a board with

a) flat files (DBM)
b) more than 5 posts
c) more than 2 users
d) subcategories
e) more than one skin

which you could completely zip and upload me to a server (I don't think my mailbox is big enough...)? So I could work with a more "real" forum...

Hi GameCrash,

yes, my pleasure, here's the URL to look at:

It's closed at the moment, but works for browsing.

Aber gerne :)
An obiger Adresse ist unser altes Board. Ich kann Dir gerne die db zuschicken oder Dir einen User einrichten für den Zugriff, den Server spiegeln - was Du willst :D

Thanks!

It's so nice to see so many UB2K users switching over or wanting to switch over. I think when we get a good import script working, there's going to be a small flood of people converting ;) I'm fearing the day when my board goes completely down the crapper :P Right now i can't create any new user groups and I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the mechanics of that board, and i just can't figure it out! I've got over 350 users and about 15,000 posts that i can't bear to lose :P

Oh well :) Keep us posted on your conversion progress!

Yes, exactly what I need and thanks from me, too :)

Don't make to much work on the extra stuff, that's okay to do some things manually (imho)...

I've got ub2k regular version (not mysql). Will the import work on that version as well? I've got a college message board that I need up and running by mid-August. My ub2k has several wonderful hacks by gamecrash and afterburner, so I am hoping the VB has some of the same features.

Thanks for the hard work!

It will work with all databases. I use the backups ob ub2k as they are identically independent of the used database...

I'm desperately needing this too as I have afew hundred members and 10K posts I don't want to lose...

My biggest problem is that I have difficulty using the included UB2K backup - it keeps stalling. But glad to see you guys picking up with vB!!!

I'll probably purchases mine the day after I hear of some success!!!

@Staff: This should be integrated into the next release as an optional importer if GameCrash agrees. This would be an extra value for vbulleting having the ability to import the remaining ub2k's now where the original site is gone...
