Just need your thoughts. I am thinking of starting a forum but maybe I am just too new to do this. Could someone please answer me this....
Is it possible to buy it owned and get VB to install it on Asmallorange host?
Will VB take out the scripts so I don't get hacked right away?
Could I then I just go in and modify/add the topics while I learn code?
Or should I just not even try because I am so inexperienced?
Thanks everyone!:D

Thanks for the quick reply!
I've seen posts about getting hacked and I am so new I was wondering if VB installs it how secure will it be.
There are just too many out there with alot of time on their hands and I'm just not smart enough right now to make my VB hacker safe!!
and I def need training on how to back everything up! Any books or online help backing up data?
Also anything anyone wished they would have known before they started their VB's??

We take security very seriously and do the best we can to ensure that vBulletin has no security holes. And when we become aware of a security issue we generally provide patches and updates within 24 hours of confirming a problem.
Unfortunately security issues are a fact of life with online software. While we work hard to avoid and eliminate security issues, we cannot guarantee that our software is completely free from bugs or security issues.
However as our record shows, we aggressively track and fix any security issues as soon as they become known to us.
The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:
Backup:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/maintenance_ssh_backup
Restore:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/maintenance_ssh_restore
This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.
