My dedicated server has just been set up it has:

Operating System: CentOS 4.3
Server Specifications: P4 2.4Ghz 1024RAM

and that is it so far, it has nothing else installed.

So what are my first steps to getting my site back up and running.
Which software should I install.

And which software version do you recommend that is the most stable and bug free for CentOS 4.3

Could you also provide some installation help for each software using SSH as im fairly new with it all.

Thanks for all the help you can give, i apreciate it.

you renting or colocating this server ? your web host would be best to consult first

if you are NOT using any control panels then

Apache 2.0.55
PHP 4.4.2
MySQL 4.0.26 if your existing forum ran on 4.0.xx mysql server
MySQL 4.1.18 if your existing forum ran on 4.1.xx mysql server

I'm renting the server from www.hostforweb.com (http://www.hostforweb.com/)

It is a managed server, so I can get them to do it, but I want to learn.

However the info you provided was perfect, as i am now finding out what mysql my old site was running.

and im thinking of instaling webmin and may purchase directadmin for my control panels.

If my old host wont tell me what version of mysql they ran, what mysql should I run then?

directadmin would be better than webmin

you should be able to see what mysql version you're using if in vb admin cp you enable admin cp quick stats in vB options area

My last host suspended me without warning because it got too big. They told me what version it was, so that is all cool now.

Can you install both webmin and directadmin? I think I may do that.

not sure about installing both.. you should only need directadmin
