It's already a plugin available at vbulletin.org. Why would it need to be included?

Lots of us don't like using plugins or hacks as to keep things in their original state. Going by the 'it's at vBulletin' logic with everything would pretty much mean that vB would never have to add any feature as most are available there, and many new features were at vb.org before.

I'd love to see this feature added!

I don't see why a user also needs a welcome pm, over top of the welcome email.

The plugin is written by one of the vbulletin developers

Its just a plugin, I see no reason not to use it if you want such functionality.

You might not like it, but a feature that would be seldom used is better left to the hackers and plugin makers.

If you want to customise your board, you're gunna have to get over the fear of using plugins - they provide extra functionality with very little need of effort during upgrades.
