associating many users

Hi, I have two forums, vBulletin running one and SMF the other. The SMF forum is a private forum and many of the users are also members of the vBulletin forum.

I want to import my SMF forum into my vBulletin forum but many of the users have the same username. So my question is, what would be the easiest (quickest) way to do this? I know I can associate the users when importing, but going through and finding out the user ID for so many users would take a long time. I also know I can associate imported users with existing users if the email address matches, but I'm not sure how many of the users are using the same email address for both boards.

What would be the best way of associating all the users?

When associating users, it will automatically match the email addresses.
I'd say the best way to do this is to make an announcement a few weeks before the import and ask users to make sure they're using the same email address on both forums.

You can always merge users after you've done the import, if some of them didn't do as you asked.

In most systems, this is an option ImpEx will only do it if you tell it to when running the module, by default it won't due to the implications of merging users and re-running the user module, i.e. deleting them.
