I have imported on a test board from a SMF forum.

When i had finished i had 2 lots of user groups...the vB default ones, and the ones from SMF.

Is there anyway of forcing the users into the vB default groups without importing the SMF groups?

Obviously the Admins & Mod's will need to go into the correct groups, but the rest of the users can go straight into the "registered users" vB group.

The SMF groups are only post based groups with the same permissions, except for Admin/mods. I can handle the post count with User Ranks in vB.

Yep, i already knew that. I was just wondering if there was any way of not importing the SMF groups....

Also, it seemed to leave the SMF member title in the Custom Title field of users profiles.....and reset their birthdays to Jan 1 1.

Apart from that it appeared pretty problem free, aside from some smilies not being imported, and 3 attachments not importing....but they are easily sorted.

No sorry, there is no way to not import groups.

As for the User titles, I don't understand what you mean.

The birthdays sounds like a bug. Please report this in the 3.5 Bug Tracker here:

Just quickly checked on the SMF forum...and the birthdays in most people profiles are showing a value of "0000 00 00"...could this be the reason why, upon import, they are changed to Jan 1 1?

Just thought i would check the obvious before submitting a bug report!

If there is no bithday set in the source, but there is a value of 0000-00-00 (which is a valid date of the Unix epoch) yes they will be imported as 1 Jan 1970.

I'm not sure what you mean by the member titles, are they not imported or they are imported incorrectly ?
