Super Moderators can do everything the Administrator can do except access the control panel. They can move threads between forums, delete, edit, etc. They have these rights in every forum.
Moderators can do these same things but only in one forum.
Of course, you can change these rights in your control panel.

Super Moderators can access the control panel.
The things I've noticed that they can't do are:
View users that are logged in as invisible
PM limits are not waived the way that they are with admins. Admins can send a PM even if the recipient's box is full, and an admin's box doesn't have a limit. Also, an admin doesn't have a character limit (if one is specified for members) However, the super-mod is limited in all of the above. It would be nice if this was configurable in the control panel to remove limits for super mods.

Super Moderators can't access the Control Panel by default :)
All mods can get to the Mod CP at http://yourforums.com/mod but no-one but the Admins can get into the main Control Panel.

can't you specify the permissions for supermods to access the CP though? yes, i think you can. There's that section that says "Can access CP? Yes [radio button] No [radio button]"

Yup that's right - you can set any usergroup to have Admin rights, but by default only the Administrator group can get into the CP.
