Looks very nice, even considering I have a ton of graphics to redo :)

How long is the turnaround on getting the UBB6 import script emailed out, and why can't it just be posted in the Members Area like the software itself?

Kind of cruel, all excited to finally get the gold version, and now still stuck waiting for a darn script :(

Hi,
I suggest you put on the front page a DIRECT link to the BBS comparison chart.
It this this page that really helps understand why VB is so much rich thant the other board, and people can miss it.

I agree. The comparison chart is real nice and truthful (in comparison to UBB. No experience with the others). It should be highly advertised from the front page. Maybe some big red star with "Come see the differences" that stands out. This will help people so they don't waste the big bucks on the competitions software like I had to do.  ;)

How was the system load at 1800? :)

Will install after migrating hacks/templates etc. But from prior upgrades, all betas and RC's, it should be smooth.

Thanks guys!

I downloaded the .php3 version, and inside all the files, you've got global.php - you need to change it to global.php3

Redemption
Mon 21st May '01, 4:21pm
Went damn smooth.
Looks blue now rather than purple
That or my monitor just had a stroke, though truth be told, I enjoy the blue over purple.
Only snag was the upgrade from RC3 instructions say to upload all of the files, which I did, tried running upgrade9.php and it gave me an error about install.php, duh, go delete it, so I did.
But obviously for an upgrade you shouldn't upload the install file.
All went good, now time to customize and decorate, thanks for the hard work.

Upgraded my local testboard w/o any problem ;)

Now going for the production server ;)

Great Job DevTeam, Congrats :)

Hmmm... did you adapt any of the 3D-Style-Graphics from our Forums???? :D

RobAC
Mon 21st May '01, 4:58pm
I'm definitely speechless here. I just finished upgrading my forums. All went well. What really makes me psyched is that because I wanted an entirely new/fresh install, I copied all my modified templates and reverted back to the original/new ones and started over. I found that there were very few templates I had to modify and the overall forum structure/framework is leaner and meaner. :D

You guys did an AWESOME job!

I am in Awe. I have done the upgrade on a site I am a co-owner on and have installed it in my test forum to get the templates the way I want.

ALl I can say is wow. I am speachless. It is nice and smooth. No errors.

Keep up the great work. Now just to get those .psd files. ;)

I've been so busy at work today I haven't had a chance to download it. So as I've no chance of being among the first to upgrade, I'm gonna try and be the last :D

The new colours & icons are much nicer by the way. I might even use these instead of stealing the ones from my other board. :)

A big thumbs up to the vBulletin team. Seamless upgrade from 1.1.6 and I think most of our users are in shock with the new version's features. Absolutely top work guys... keep it up!

Gonna keep our web monkees busy with updating the graphics tho... will keep them out of my hair for a while at least :)

Aaah.. finally the final-version. And really I like the new layout. (Except the Netscape-layout bug at least in the reply-to topic-page) Anyway.. Great stuff guys!

However.. I thought that there were supposed to be like 10 (?) different color themes in the final version? not to mention.. Stars-hack? Where is that.. I thought that that should be also in final-version.

** UPDATE **
I found a previous post with the "?step=3" instruction. Worked great!

Had Candidate 3. Uploaded all the files and ran upgrade9.php.

Everything seemed to go smoothly. The board is running fine, except the bottom of the page still says "Release Candidate 3".

Did the upgrade actually occur? I'm assuming that the up/down arrow when sorting messages would indicate the upgrade occured.

Thanks!

They were planning to release 10 style sets in the members' area - it hasn't happened yet but I believe they are still planning to.

As said many times, it will make its' debut in v2.1.

The different styles aren't essential. I'll tell you what really ticked me off though ... you guys at vB made those really cool new buttons which forced me to redo my entire site in order to "keep up with the Joneses." My old buttons started to look lame!!! I've been forced to pay the price and redo all my other buttons because you guys decided to give 110%!!! :D LOL. Spent all night last night and got the basics done, had to change colors, but I think it looks cool.... oh yeah. Thanks for great release. :D

I know that this Post maybe need that are here, but in this forum, the admins not create a Discusion for the vBulletin Documentation Anoucement.

Well, in the file vBulletin 2 Graphics Development Kit(zip, ~ 200KB), the vBulletin_logo Photoshop image, aren't here. But I need it.

Thanks

Exactly how I felt. Went from Gold to Yellow, from ok graphics to better, and at first I was a ticked too . All I wanted was bug fixes. But after re-evaluating the situation for the last day and working towards redoing the graphics (colors), I have come to the conclusion that it was more than worth it and 2.0 Gold can be called just that. GOLD. Much more than I can say for the experience I had with a vB competitor just a short while back. vBulletin gives "Gold" a new meaning and the others are lame in comparison.

Now that is a better attitude. No? ;)

Thank You!

No? ;) Thank You! Heheh, I need to be a little more strategic with smilies and include them generously. :) I think the graphics are very cool although I may end up going back to the gold look. The gradients make it more challenging to use good colors and properly colorize and stylize. My site looks needs more tweaking but the new buttons I created based on the new VB buttons are way cool! The pain in the butt is that those VB boys compelled me to work again once I saw the release -- but after the initial shock I realized immediately how great it is to work once more when the results are raising the bar yet again and significantly.

The vBulletin logo is not in the graphics developer kit, as we would rather expect you to put your logo, not ours, at the top of your forums.

i agree with ya on that one Kier..
but if you don't wanna change the design on the logo, just the text, it would be handy, for the ppl that aint so stable in gfx..
myself don't need it, have my own :D

Upgrade from RC 1 to Gold 2.0.0 went very smooth. Great job!

JWilliams
Tue 29th May '01, 7:13pm
I'm curious .. Why would one upgrade from RC3 to Final? Other than some cosmetic changes (much smoother look & feel,) there were only 3 functional changes (I can see) in the final 2.0 release. Is it that big of a difference? What are the pros/cons?

I know RC3 is a beta, but is it that buggy?

Other than it being much "prettier" (which works for me ;) I have to justify the reason to my company to upgrade.

Thanks!

tubedogg
Tue 29th May '01, 7:22pm
There were various improvements around the board, including a number of bug fixes. You also would need to upgrade to Final to receive any sort of support, either on these boards or "official" support via vbulletin.com/support.
