Linking of different databases

I was wondering how does vbulletin link databases together like on vbulletin.org and this website. I want to be able to have people from my school to be able to access and see certain stuff or subscribers to certain things.

So if they are not apart of the school they can still register but they cannot see certain things just like this site and vbulletin.org does and it is somehow linked with the schools database(Oracle) read only if possible and mine MySQL

We're not linking them. People have to register individually.

But through resources like a plugin or source code hacks it is possible to have one registration point for all linked forums. However, this is not a default feature - nor supported - and you would have to check with vBulletin.org to see if it is for download.

Note that each instance of a vbulletin board running requires a license.

I only want one vbulletin running but I think it is cool how the people have to register on vbulletin.com before they have full access on vbulletin.org
