how accurate are vb statistics?

if I, for example, delete (soft or hard) a few posts, will it update the 'New Posts Today' number on admincp or just leave it as it is?

If you prune them from the admin control panel, you will need to update the counters, however, if you delete the posts while viewing the thread or posts in question, the counters will be updated.

wait.. Will they be updated immediatly? Isn't there an option that updates the counters via the scheduled task manager or does this only work with new posts/threads? :)
