Hello,
just downloaded vbulletin lite 1.0.
I tryed two version, the one with .php and the one with .php3 extension. The .php3 version runs without a problem,
the .php version (PHP4 parsed) gives me this error when trying to setup the board:
Setting up tables...

Reseting database...
Warning: MySQL: Unable to save result set in db_mysql.php on line 69

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

But the login data is ok, and as said the php3 version runs.
I have MySQL 3.23.21-beta-log running (upgraded today because of this problem, does not help at all,
PHP Version 4.0.1pl2 and PHP Version 3.0.16 on this test server. What could that be? Do you need more information?
bye,
Bodo

Hi,
because I also tryed phorum as another free board solution, one user postet this link: http://bugs.php.net/bugs.php?id=4987&show=1
Is this really a PHP problem?
I have a guestbook running that uses php4 and also other scripts. Only more "complex" scripts like vbulletin lite are causing this trouble.
Maybe this helps? I bet this also happens if you use the full version with PHP4.
Oh, and here is the email from the phorum user that had the problem: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=phorum&m=96239569901209&w=2
I also installed the vblite on the production server, and it worked! Very, very strange.

Ok,
can you post on what kind of server you installed it? Mine is on Linux/P150/64MB RAM.
I'm not sure but it might be a performance problem.

Hmm...I am as baffled as you.

I would tend to think it was a bug more than a hardware problem since I remember I received the same (or similar) problem when installing lite. I switched to .php3 and it was all fine...

BTW I was running a virtual server then. Sun os and I don't know the hardware specs off the bat

Ok,
short form: I disabled all PHP3 related things in httpd.conf, restarted apache and it works. There might be some problems with using PHP3 & 4 at the same time.
