dual opteron mysql & dual xeon webserver

Do you think these 2 server ( cross connect ) can handle 1000-1500 users online / more @ the same time ?
I dont know about AMD Opteron, is 240 64-bit a good & top of the line ?
I pick Dual Xeon 2.0 HT, do you think it's enough ?

Dual Opterions, would best Dual Xeons, esp only 2.0ghz xeons...

I'd wait for George for a more complete anwser though.

they offer me this setup, due to my budget.
because by getting 2 of Dual opteron will increase monthly fee.
he said i can add a webserver easily by using hsphere in the future (load balancing).

In all honesty, if you are going to be running that many users online at once, you'd be better suited with 4GB's of RAM for the MySQL server as that's where most of your memory is going to be used (serving queries and other database calls).

I'd say you'd be fine with 2GB's for the HTTP server, even so with the Dual Xeon's, but your primary focus is the MySQL server as that's where most of the data is going to be entered into and called from.

If you can, however, go either with a dual dual-Xeon 3.0GHz+ setup or both Dual Opeterons. If your budget will not allow for this, then I would at least focus on the RAM for the MySQL server.

Dual Opteron 240

what's 240 mean ? is it equal to : Dual Xeon 2.4 ?

The Xeons run at 2.4GHz while the Opteron 240's run at 1.4GHz each I believe.

While it is about 1.0GHz below that of Intel, AMD's do tend to run a bit faster or equally due to the way they are built.
