We am looking for a new ISP. Our current ISP is A Small Orange. I think they are great, but our site is too much for their shared server. They recommend going to VPS but aren't accepting new VPS accounts. I am looking for some recommendations. Until recently, typical traffic was around 70 users at peak times and about 25-30G in bandwidth per month. This was pretty consistent for the last year, but in the last month, it has almost doubled. Some of this increase was due to changes at similar boards, so it is reasonable that our peaks will remain higher.

Right now, we are paying $20 per month. We are sensative towards cost because this is not a money making operation.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Why don't you upgrade to their SUPER package? 80GB monthly bandwidth for 30$ best suits your need, according to what you've mentioned.

Shared & VPS, generally (and normally), are two different hosting options. If they are not allowing him to pull the traffic or operate his website based on his current shared hosting package, upgrading to another shared package isn't going to work.

Of course, he'll have higher limits, but he will still be in a shared environment and still be limited as he currently is. If they reccomended VPS as their next option, VPS is the next option for him, be it with him or another host if he so chooses to move on and they do not open up a vacant slot.

Are you looking for a new ISP, or a new host?

An ISP is an Internet Service Provider to help you connect (log onto) the Internet.

A host is where you'd have your sites files hosted.

If you need a new host, I strongly recommend Site5!

Site5 has everything that he wants in the price range that he wants, plus now they have Flashback, so he'll never have to backup his files ever again :D

Flashback or not, I'd still highly recommend making backups.

I've been using PowerVPS for a while and have had good experiences with them. Their support is top-notch, and the performance of the VPS is pretty good, too.
