Moving from phpBB - A few Questions

hi all

i want to convert my phpBB to a vB board

anyhow my phpBB is heavily modded with a few DB tweaks

so i wonder if impex can handle the conversion smoothly

or will it result in any probs?

someone please help...

The only thing the importer uses is the database, files are not used at all, I'm almost sure of it.
For databses changes, though, you'll have to ask Jerry, the impex man ;)

i hav a few mods which i m ready to uninstall

as their function is built into vB by default

but i hav a doubt abt a 2 mods

1) Attachment Mod v2.3.14 from opentools.de

can i convert the forum with this mod in place or do i need to remove this?

2) Cash Mod 2.22 by Xore

For the first one, I don't think it's a standard conversion option.. As soon as it's a phpBB hack, it's not supported by impex out of the box.
But maybe there's a way to import your attachments in vbulletin, you'll have to wait for the impex-man to answer you..

For the second one, I'm almost sure you'll have to remove it, as this is not a standard product in vbulletin (even if I think it acts a little bit like the reputation system)

-- I believe there is a mod over at vbulletin.org that will import your attachments from phpbb after you do the regular import. You may want to take a look over there and see.


2) Cash Mod 2.22 by Xore

-- Do you know what fields and tables were entered into the DB by this hack? I dont think this would be a problem. There is a cash mod at vbulletin.org which lets you specify where the points are being stores.

ImpEx imports Attachments from phpBB without any further effort.
