1.1.3 BETA 3

Beta 3 is now available, getting all known bugs so far.

Change log is as follows:


Sorted multiple entries in 'Jump to...' list in the searches
Sorted problems with linking to last post in public profile displaying when it should not
Search in members list and in control panel for members is now case insensitive
Sorted out cases with member names when they post not reflecting profile
Sorted timezone problems on import
Fixed problem where text was not displayed when user is emailed using secure form
Smartened up control panel a bit
And one new feature: duplicate post remover, accessed from 'Update counters...' in control panel, removes duplicate posts from imports.

Like many people I am waiting for either UBB v6 or a version of VB that has some killer features to tempt me!

Remember the migration to VB is one-way - this makes it hard to know when to jump!

How easy is it to upgrade between versions, I have just changed all my templates, I wont have to do that again will I?
Do you say what files are changed when a new version comes out, and what changes were made in them.... that would help quite a bit.

I just upgraded, just write over the files. As for the templates, you can choose to view the changed ones and manually do the changes

That is what I am on about, do they tell you which templates change with the upgrades, and what the changes were or do I have to look through all of them seperatly, comparing to see if there are any changes.

i am ready (well sort of) to upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.3 beta 3 and am still confused by want you mean

is it when you upgrade the install will tell you which template has been updated and what has changed

as in each line of code ? i.e.

showthreads.php has been updated - please replace this code with this kind of note ?

what happens to additional templates i have added ?

i.e.

i have headers for each forum like

header template for main page
header-eva template for eva forum
header-dragonball template for dragonball forum
header-chat template for chit chat forum
etc etc

will the remain untouched in the upgrade process ?

oh i will have to re add you location/interest hack right ?

anyone can post a list of templates or files changed so i can back them up before the upgrade ?

does doing a database dump backup templates as well ?

1.1.3 is correct - you don't want the users to know its beta.

And actually, from 1.1.3->1.1.3b3, there are no template changes anyway - all you do is upload the new scripts, I think at least - haven't updated myself yet.

yay i am very happy...

the upgrade went fine... re-added your location/interest hack and all my templates and layout are the same (what i was really worried about) - plus i am happy with my host cause i just setup my own DNS on my server and that worked as well :D

since i bought vbulletin 3 weeks ago i have recommended it to 9 people of which all are planning to purchase vbulletin very soon !

I have to admit, vBulletin is the nicest of the boards. I have used UBB and UB2K and out of them, vBulletin is the one I went live with.

It just seems more 'friendly'.

Any updates on when the software will be released? I've not found any major problems with 1.1.3B3 and was just curious if I was missing something which prevents the software from being considered a fully released product.

Ed, Seriously, its really not that funny. It sounds way too much like infopop's ... "it will be released when its released" line. Your answer just gives ammunition to the folks who go "thats only a two man team, how can they support you". I don't follow threads enough to keep track of people's holiday schedules and have no desire to do so. It means little to me if John or James are not around.

I do want to get a bunch of hacks installed and settled quickly and I do not want to mess with a beta release.

I want to know why its not released, specially if there is a potential problem which could affect my site. I have two other sites waiting on the release software.

The date format has changed in 1.1.3. YOu need to update the SQL in your active threads to match.

While its a beta... Please make the MySQL Table names configurable from CONFIG.php so that its easy to people who is hosted in shared host and have same table names before created... So It will be very nice to configure the table names.. And its not hard to make this option avaliable just adding the "$table_name" in every SQL qurey by a simple REGEX replacement. I want to purcahse the script but I can not use it before if this option avaliable because I have got scripts using mySQL tables named same some of the Tables that VBulletin is using right now especially "session" :) So please help me.. It will be a great help.

----> Also Another thing I want to translate the templates to Turkish but if I want to change my host I should write a small script to import mySQL template table to a Flat database than export to the new computer..
So as a small request please make a small script which can create installtemplate.php

---->Last thing.. In setting up Cookies sometimes IE5.x+ versions dont accept cookies from PHP , yes its a real problem.. So JavaScript for setting up cookies will be much secure then having a percentage to not set up a cookie.

The current version is probably as stable as 1.1.3 gets, so I think the next release will be a bigger one (no more 1.1.3's).
