We orriginally had Post locks on our vb2 board. They worked by prohibiting editing and could only be added/removed by admins (or done automatically when a post was warned for)
When we upgraded to vb3 i couldn't be bothered rewriting the whole thing and instead found this really nifty hack by Xenon on vb.org that did much more than the orriginal mod.
