Does anybody have any experience with this host in terms of hosting vbulliten? I have a website with them already and have had absolutely no problems with that but not having used one of their mysql databases I don't know about this or any other issues.

Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

Try searching over at www.WebHostingTalk.com, you should be able to find information on them from there.

i use them for my forum twobrutal.co.uk and dont have any problems at all..but i dont have anyone to compare them to..might be worth noting that the servers are not in UK (well my domain certainly isnt) and their customer services are in Thailand somewhere..!

I've heard 1&1 are fairly decent in terms of having uptime, however that is only good until the server starts giving problems. Their support is a nightmare, you can't get through to anyone in time or have someone fix things for you. It's a typical case of a company that's grown too fast for their customers good. Too many clients, comparatively fewer arms manning the place.

I thought 1&1 were in Germany. I have heard some poor feedback on their support in some of the IT boards I visit but no issues when the systems are up and running.

I remember reading an article in the computer press last year how the ISPs were trying drop the S and just be providors. We have our own leased server with Claranet in the UK, and have been with them since they took over Netscalibur, who took over our original ISP Direct Connection.

I have no issues with them, I think you just take a chance, but support is the main issue. You need it to be there when things go wrong. Last March our server crashed big time and Clara were on it quickly.

I've just purchased managed, dedicated hosting with 1&1 after some horrendous problems with Pobox Internet.

Will feedback on the setup process etc. in due course.
