Hello, Yesturday I attempted to upgrade from vb 3.0.7 to 3.5.2

The homepage looked alright but the back end was seriously mangled by some hacks I had installed.

OK, lets do a fresh install and use impex to import the old database

I've had good experience in the past with impex, so lets go for it. ;)

Well, For some reason I can not get impex to install so I can do the import

I followed the directions but keep getting the same error

Any ideas as to why and hoe to fix this would be great.

Thank you in advance

[Edit]

P.S. I have tryed the browse option as well as uploading to the includes/xml directory

Are you back to the upgraded forum now? To troubleshoot this, remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem.

If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

Next, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

No, I gave up on the upgrade as it did nasty things to the backend (admincp)

So, I did a fresh install of vbulletin, the site is up and running great

Now I am trying to import my users boards and posts, but I can not install impex

when I try to install impex xml file, I get the error stated above

What do you mean 'try to install impex xml file'? What exactly are you doing?

Sorry :o

I'm new to 3.5

I did not realize all I had to do was refresh the cpanel to have the import function show up on the admincp menu.

*Runs away in shame*

Thank you
