This is my second time buying vbulletin. The site I bought it for the first time was a flop.
I recently started a new community that is growing much faster than I ever expected. Using phpbb got me the basics. Upgrading to Vbulletin gives me everything I need to grow.
No need to edit (and re-edit when you upgrade) 10 different files to add new functionality. The product/plugin system takes care of that for you.
The community over at vbulletin.org is great. You will be hard pressed to come up with an add-on that hasn't already been thought of, coded, and released by somebody else.
If you have a growing community and think you can "get by" with a lesser software package, think again. Your users will thank you for it.
