Display Real Name instead of Username

I'm considering switching to vBulleting (looks great), but from what I've read (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159125), the option to display users Real Name instead of the Username at ALL times (ref fudforum.org) for the general user is not possible

Has this become a feature? If not, is it easy to implement this via template modification throughout the forum, or in some other way?

By default vBulletin doesn't even ask for the Real Name. You could just make a forum rule that they have to use their real name when registering and you won't have to change anything.

You can create a Custom Profile Field and then modify the postbit template to show that custom field in lieu of the username. It would require code modification or at the very least a template conditional to 'force' users to put in a Real Name.

Are you saying that displaying a person's real name (instead of their username) is possible without code modifications?

I would like the real name to display in place of the username but still have the real name link to the user's profile (just like the username used to do/does/did.)

If you want their Real Name everywhere, then require that they put their real name when they register like HTF (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/register.php?s=) does.

Change all reference of Username to simply Name.

May i join this thread it is similar to what we are trying to do.

We are upgrading from ubb classic to vb and wish to make this as seamless as possible for our members. On ubb they have two names login or user name and display name. When i use impex i am asked to choose, how best to approach this, we would like to keep both?

vB does not have both, so when you do the import you would need to choose one.

You said you ran the import so I assumed you are a licensed customer. What is the URL to your forums?
