I was interested in vBulletin but I would like to have it match the rest of my site. Is it possible for me to change all aspects of the forum without too much trouble?
Like if I wanted to use different colors, buttons, have the whole forum aligned left instead of centered, etc.
Sometimes it can be a little tricky sifting through someone else's style sheets and code to change things....is this fairly straight forward with vBulletin?

I would personally have to say yes.

I've worked with the system for a number of years now, and never found anything quite so stright forward an easy. The CSS manager is half way between a wysiwyg and standard editor. It allows things to be easily accessed and set, or if you don't want to do it via the easy way, there is a box were you could define all of your CSS definitions yourself. There is also an area to add new CSS definitions without effecting anything else.

Most of the core settings can be changed from the Main Settings in the style manager. The header and footer templates, the image paths (for style based images), and the css settings.

If you haven't already try checking out the admin demo http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo

It is. Of course there would be some trial and error getting it PERFECTLY how you want it...but overall yes it its pretty easy and straight forward. And there are various VB related websites and such that may be able to help fill your needs for matching buttons and such as well.

thanks guys...

I'll be making all the buttons and things myself, and I have a fair amount of experience configuring and writing templates for stuff like Wordpress...I just wanted to be sure.

thanks again.

What you described could probably be done within hours (and taking that long is for the logo and buttons). The CSS Manager makes editing colors just a run down a list to change them <-- interesting feature is color charts to mix and match colors better.

Quickie changes are indeed quick. Customizing is another subject, but that's for those pixel perfect types :cough: me :cough: who'll literally tear vB apart to redesign it's layout. <-- very customizeable! :D
