Anybody know why when some of my users try to attach some images... most work, while some dont? when you select the file to upload.... which a pic im having trouble posting now is a .jpg... almost exactly the same size as one I posted a few min ago..... yet the first one posts fine.... but the second one when you hit posts, it just ignores the picture and acts like there was never an attachment before.....

I have uploaded the pic (shown below) i am having problems with... if you want to try saving it and uploading it from your comp..... I was trying to post it into this thread..... http://www.consoleboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=218

and also im open to any design suggestions ;) im about to start a new one ;)

thanks

hmmm, it appears that I fixed it....

when the files were too big, it would just ignore the files and not say the file size was too big...... anyone know why it would do that?

My users experienced similar problems. I don't think it's the size. The reason I say that is one user tested the same image 4 times in test messages, and it only worked twice.

Are you sure you fixed it? I suspect it's a timing issue, if the image is loaded before you hit submit.

Cam someone confirm this?

Im not sure if it is the size or not... but when it is the size.. .it doesnt give me the message saying that the file is too big..... and then it just continues posting the message... with out the attachment. It has happened numerous times to my users... prollly about 20% of the time... maybe a little less....

Fazle are you sure you uploaded all the RC3 files? Upload them all again (don't run any upgrades, just ftp the files in) and try to attach something.

If that doesn't work we'll need a demo URL, with a testing user or unregistered users allowed to attach things.

Hey Brady, did you revert to RC2 or is that where you had the problem. I upgraded to RC3 and have now lost my image attachments. I am running RC3 and have the checked "show images". It worked it RC2. It has not removed the attachments from previous versions, it will just not allow new attachments.

I've got the same problem, let me know, and I'll set up a guest registration if you'd like. Just new attachments don't work.

The "just ignore attachment when size is too big" thing was fixed in RC3.

The "can't attach in RC3" has now been fixed. The fix is pretty complex so it won't be posted. The temp fix is to edit the MAX_FILE_SIZE <input> in newpost_attachment or changing your upload_max_filesize setting in php.ini to be defined in bytes (instead of something like 2M)

Any other problems should be started in a new thread.
