Ok we have a small board with about 8,000 members and 50,000 posts. We are making the final move in roughly 12 hours. We have run through many many test imports to see how exactly it works and time the switch.
We have learned many tricks so far to speed up the import, but we are at a major delay on the forums themselves. When we import the bottleneck in time seems to be setting the forum permissions, and of course a few options in the maintanence area.
Is it possible to import the threads and posts, then simply move them into their new (previously created) respective parent forums? Also does anyone have any tips for the Recount area? If our numbers are as stated above what are the ideal settings to do the processing? Would it help or hinder us if we have 2-3 admins doing these at the same time? Would that possibly cause db errors or even search/similar threads indexing less posts? Is there a specific order we would be best doing these processes?
Any advice in the next few hours would be greatly appreciated.
